more sketches done over the weeks
id still love to hear some feedback, mainly criticism.

various portraits

hugh laurie

this one differs from the others, used the 2H, F, B, 2B, 3B and 6B rather than using only one pencil compared to the portraits above. im hoping you should be able to tell the difference in texture and depth. if not then i should be practicing some more.

The eyes on Hugh Laurie are so well done. However, on the last one, it looks like the beard goes down his neck.

The shading is incredible, especially on the second (My fav) and fourth pictures.

the scruff kinda goes down half his neck. i lost the reference picture but this is sorta what he looked like. beard.

the second one with the guy pulling up his hair is jason mraz. the fourth is some guy crying, tried to sketch the hell out of it and retain the emotion of sadness.

thanks a lot for the comments andy.

The Hugh Laurie sketches are spot on, fuckin' ace dude. Keep it up.

You have a natural talent for more than just awesome stick animations, it seems.

Very nice shading justin, although i think the shading on some of them, especially the necks and under the noses are too light and others too dark, it just looks odd. But overall it looks awesome. Im doing an Art course and my main talent is using pencil, I prefer it too paints but i don't mind either.

thanks for that criticism. i didnt actually notice until you pointed it out. i find that i usually improvise on the shading once all the features are penciled down which is probably why.

No problem, they are really nice. By the way have you just took Art as a whole course as itself, or have you done an art course on one thing rather than all of the art topics?
