PostSubject: RS3DCGC - ROUND 1 [Messy Table]   Thu Feb 07, 2008 10:11 am

Again, copied from Shiftlimits with Alterations:

Alright, everyone, we're done to the final three, and not the final two, like I expected. Sorry for Pepper for getting eliminated, great job on both of the competitions.
Competitors, READ THIS THREAD THROUGH. It will save you some questions.

This round's challenge:
MAKE THE BEST RENDER OF A MODELED MESSY TABLE.

The rules:

  • You absolutely can't use any models given from someone else or from a site. I'll do my best to find out if anyone's cheating, though I trust you all.
  • There is no directly using tutorials. You can definitely use them to help you out during the process, butdo not go through them thoroughly.
  • You can't use any other software or rendering engine except the one you listed on the competition thread.
  • You can post WIP renders here. It'd be cool to see your progress, although when you post your final render, post that it is the final render.

How it will be going down:

  • The round will end when everyone's posted their final render or when it is after February 28th (ONLY IF THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE WHO HAVEN'T SUBMITTED THEIR ENTRY), which is the duedate. If everyone submitted their entry, then it will end then. So don't take too long on this, because it won't really matter in the long run anyway.
  • When the round ends, if anyone didn't make the duedate, then they will be out of the challenge immediately. They will possibly get a penalty?
  • When the round ends, a poll will be posted with the competitors' entries. The ones who receive the most votes will be eliminated/not eliminated but still majorly fucked up. : D

K, sounds good. BUT. If I submit a render, it's not completed until I say "THIS IS MY FINAL RENDER". Just fair warning.

I say this because of last time.

That is all.

Zackie, you know nothing about 3D. A messy table is extremely hard to make right, and to be honest with you, everything in 3D can be hard, so don't post unless you know what you're talking about. >: 3

Also, guys, I spent the weekend at my dad's, so I haven't started yet. I might start soon. Also, Gar, I can't see that image. Re-upload it or something.

Also, guys, I have recently acquired 3Ds Max 2008, so you'll have to wait a while before I acquire Vray too. I can still render it out in 9, though.

Coming along awesomely, Gar.

Okay, guys, apparently my old Vray for 9 works for 2008 too, so I'll just use that.

Well they know nothing about 3D either, besides Zac.

Why do you always have to bring some other group into our conversation. Fi knows nothing at all, they are completely stupid imo. Some of them are cool, but mostly they are fags. I know zac knows 3D, but creating 3D isn't that easy. If it were easy, everyone would be doing it.

It takes time and patience.

Of course everything in 3D is child's play. Oh, that's right - IF YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG.

3D is hard. Everything about 3D is hard, but it's also fun, rewarding and creative.

But then again, a cube is nothing to brag about making.

Some WIPs:

Note that there are coffee stains, and that I had one hell of a job working those UVs for the compass. I made a bump map for the dials and wheels.
